Officer Jerry Marsh, (Guy) is killed in a gunfight in the first few minutes of this episode, titled "Officer's Wife". When Linda Wylie hears of his death, she hysterically demands that her husband Ed quit the Higway Patrol. Torn up by his dilemma, Ed tells Dan his problem. Dan arranges a leave of absence, and then, using psychology, he invites Linda to his office, where Jerry's widow has come to work as a dispatcher.
